The pair credited their staff, loyal fans and customers as the restaurant continues to thrive since its refurbishment earlier this year. The Italian themed slick operation, frequented by many players from the Munster and Irish rugby teams, took the award ahead of the likes of Le Bon Crubeen, Dublin, Avoca, Kilmacanogue, Sol Rio, Mayo and No. 27 in Antrim – all provincial winners in the category. The awards took a different element this year by including scoring from “mystery guests”, public text votes, menu submissions as well as the expert opinion from a panel of judges. The launch of these two new US destinations is another major milestone for our passengers. The new services open up exciting opportunities for Irish people to explore amazing parts of the States and for US visitors to explore our Wild Atlantic Way. We look forward to working closely with Norwegian to ensure the success of the services, which we are confident will pave the way for many more great things to come.”Norwegian CEO Bjorn Kjos said: “The launch of these new transatlantic flights is significant milestone for Norwegian, Shannon Airport and most of all passengers who now have more choice and lower fares for travel to the USA. We are grateful for the huge support from across Ireland over the last three years and we are delighted to see everyone’s hard work pay-off as our first transatlantic flights take to the skies this weekend.”Said Shannon Airport Managing Director Andrew Murphy:  “We are delighted to have eight services to seven airports on the US east coast. This illustrates the huge market there is for the unique Irish tourism product on this side of the island.  To have a new operator select Shannon for two destinations as it begins operations in Ireland speaks volumes, too, about Shannon’s significance in the transatlantic market.“Stewart International Airport and Providence Green Airport give us access to two very interesting and exciting locations so these services offer opportunity beyond inbound. Stewart is the access airport for Orange County, which is just 90 minutes from New York. It is in the hugely popular Hudson Valley and has year round activities from water sports to skiing. Rhode Island, on the other hand, is approximately the same distance from Boston, and is also a very popular tourism destination in its own right, with fantastic ocean drives, historical sites, museums and wineries.  We would urge the public and tourism interests to support them and explore what are exciting new opportunities.” Print One of the world’s most unusual aircraft arrives at Shannon Airport Aer Lingus needs to clarify Shannon plans – Crowe Shannon Airport “has been abandoned” last_img read more

Alan Dershowitz Gives Unique Take on Julian Assange Arrest

first_imgFamed Harvard Law professor and defense attorney Alan Dershowitz joins Jen and Bill this morning to talk about the arrest of Julian Assange.“Before WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange gained asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2012, he and his British legal team asked me to fly to London to provide legal advice about United States law relating to espionage and press freedom. I cannot disclose what advice I gave them, but I can say that I believed then, and still believe now, that there is no constitutional difference between WikiLeaks and the New York Times. If the New York Times, in 1971, could lawfully publish the Pentagon Papers knowing they included classified documents stolen by Rand Corporation military analyst Daniel Ellsberg from our federal government, then indeed WikiLeaks was entitled, under the First Amendment, to publish classified material that Assange knew was stolen by former United States Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning from our federal government.”Dershowitz continues: “So if prosecutors were to charge Assange with espionage or any other crime for merely publishing the Manning material, this would be another Pentagon Papers case with the same likely outcome. Many people have misunderstood the actual Supreme Court ruling in 1971. It did not say that the newspapers planning to publish the Pentagon Papers could not be prosecuted if they published classified material. It only said that they could not be restrained, or stopped in advance, from publishing them. Well, they did publish, and they were not prosecuted.”Alan M. Dershowitz is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Emeritus, at Harvard Law School. His new book is “The Case Against the Democratic House Impeaching Trump.” You can follow him on Twitter @AlanDersh and hear the interview here.http://wftlam.streamon.fm/listen-pl-2146last_img read more
