Cazenovia ice hockey goes 1-1, earns win over Watertown IHC

first_img Tags: Cazenoviaice hockey Perhaps a corner has turned for the Cazenovia ice hockey team.Once at 0-7, the Lakers earned its second consecutive victory last Tuesday night at the Morrisville State IcePles, claiming a 4-2 decision over Watertown IHC.This result was more impressive than the 3-0 win over Ontario Bay one week earlier, partially because the Cavaliers had a better record (3-7), but also because Cazenovia didn’t let the momentum dissipate in between these games. The Lakers broke out of a scoreless tie in the second period by converting twice, and did so again in the third period to keep IHC from rallying. It was Jack Donlin setting the pace for the Cazenovia attack, scoring twice and contributing an assist. Jacob Owens had one goal and one assist.James Dapson picked up the other goal, with George Labinski getting two assists. Jacob Grevelding and Andrew Parkhurst both had two assists as Cy McCrink stopped 26 of Ontario Bay’s 28 shots.Still at the IcePlex on Friday night, Cazenovia faced Cicero-North Syracuse, and put up its best goal total of the season, yet still took a 6-5 overtime defeat to the Northstars.A big second period had the Lakers in front 4-1, but it could not hold on, C-NS making it all the way back to even it 5-5 and then prevail in the OT period, led by Matt Cramer’s three goals and one assist.Dan Scholl and Josh Whaley both scored twice Cazenovia, Donlin earning the other goal. Forrest Ives had two assists as single assists went to Whaley, Owens, Labinski, James LeFever and Gage Marshall. The Lakers play three times this week, hosting Rome Free Academy Tuesday and Mohawk Valley on Saturday, with a Thursday trip to Ontario Bay for a rematch with the Storm in between.Share this:FacebookTwitterLinkedInRedditComment on this Story last_img
