100 lads to receive free haircuts in time for new school term

first_imgIn light of school re-opening on Monday, January 6, the REACH Foundation has promised free haircuts to 100 youngsters in Sophia, Greater Georgetown and Tiger Bay.REACH representatives along with a few children who received haircutsAccording to President of the group, Nicholas Chesney, this is the second year the back-to-school event has been hosted by the organisation.“This is the second phase of this particular activity, the first started last year when we went to New Amsterdam and Sophia. The plan is to do this whenever school is set to reopen”, he said.Chesney further added that this initiative is very important to the organisation since scores of children are set to benefit from these two communities.REACH representative cutting a child’s hair“This event is very important to us because it’s the start of our year of activities that will be linked to our theme for 2020, “The year of investment”. This year, we aim to invest in people especially the children. We see it as investing in the next generation,” he vocalised.Five barbers donated their time and services on Saturday and will continue today.He said: “We have 20 goals for 2020, they are called REACH Development Goals (RDG) RDG 7, it is to establish a good relationship with Sophia, Tiger Bay, Mon Repos, and Angoy’s Avenue.”REACH is a non-profit organisation which comprises of 40 individuals who share the common goal of providing care for the underprivileged.Their main aim is to touch hearts and heal lives through the distribution of comfortable clothing and nutritious meals while improving the standard of living for the underprivileged.last_img
