Dear Wilmington Residents,We have an opportunity on Saturday, April 27th to re-elect a very worthy candidate, Greg Bendel, to the Wilmington Board of Selectmen.I have had the pleasure of knowing Greg as a person and a community volunteer for several years and it is my honor to call him my friend. Over the years, I have continued to observe Greg’s dedication to his family, his friends and to the Town of Wilmington. For as long as I can remember Greg has always had a willingness to support key initiatives and important projects for the betterment of our children, our schools and our community.During Greg’s first term on the Board of Selectmen I have been impressed with his ability to assist the town leadership team with getting the town’s business done! Greg continues to be a key supporter of the suite of services the Town of Wilmington has to offer its residents such as public education, elderly services & senior housing, youth sports & recreational programs, community health, public safety and veteran affairs to name a few. Greg has been a fiscally conservative leader, an advocate for economic development and a board member who supports the public process. Greg will tackle any issue with transparency and will be the first to offer to help in any given situation.I have had the pleasure of serving on the Board of Selectmen with Greg and have witnessed firsthand his commitment to the Town of Wilmington. We accomplished a lot together and I will be the first to say we did not always agree on every town topic. However, we respected our common ground and our differences and I always appreciated Greg’s perspective on things. Greg is honest, ethical and of the highest moral character. While working with Greg I always knew he put his head and heart in every decision he made on behalf of the residents of the Town of Wilmington and is a man who tries to always do the right thing! For this reason and many others I am certain that Greg Bendel is the right choice for the voters of Wilmington on Election Day.With Greg’s impressive resume along with his personal qualities and attributes, I believe Greg continues to be an ideal candidate for Selectman. Greg is intelligent, articulate, a team player, a great listener and has the courage and tenacity to take on the most complex issues and render informed decisions. Greg is a great asset to the Wilmington Board of Selectmen and deserves to be re-elected so he can continue to work hard to maintain and improve the quality of life for all Wilmington residents and local business owners to enjoy. Please join me on Saturday, April 27th in voting for Greg Bendel for Selectman. 2019 Audi RS5 Sportback review: Goody two-shoes “Research has shown people readily understand the heating and cooling dynamics to denote directions and the subtlety of temperature change can be perfect for certain feedback that doesn’t require a more intrusive audio or vibration-based cue,” said Alexandros Mouzakitis, JLR’s senior manager for electrical research, in a statement. In the future, this system might have a hand in self-driving vehicles, too. The automaker said that it’s also adapted this temperature-shifting technology to work with gear shift paddles, which could inform a driver that the swap between human and computer control is complete. Now, Jaguar Land Rover is taking it one step further by bringing temperature into the equation.Jaguar Land Rover this week unveiled its “sensory steering wheel concept.” Developed with the help of Glasgow University, the automaker is investigating whether using heating and cooling can alert drivers to less pertinent information. This wouldn’t replace haptic feedback, but rather it would create a lower-priority tier of messages with its own unique notification method. Here’s how it works. Each side of the steering wheel can be heated or cooled by up to 10.8 degrees Fahrenheit, and the rate of change is adjustable to suit the driver’s preference. It could alert drivers of an upcoming turn in either direction, when to change lanes or if there’s poor visibility ahead. For things requiring much more pertinent notifications, like a lane departure, haptic feedback is still faster and more efficient for communication. Get the latest updates from Rail Budget 2016 here.Indian Railways launched a micro-site ahead of presentation of the Railway Budget Thursday to let citizens watch it live. The Railways announced the launch of the website Tuesday, calling it a “one-stop shop for all Railway budget related information.” Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will present the Railway Budget 2016 in Parliament Thursday, and is expected to announce an increased outlay of about Rs 1.25 lakh crore. It is not clear if passenger fares will be hiked, with contradictory reports emerging in recent days. On Wednesday, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) reportedly urged the railway minister to increase passenger fares to cut down on passenger losses. Railways’ earnings have seen a decline of 3.77 percent from April to January this fiscal. However, keeping in mind the upcoming Assembly elections in several key states where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is looking to make foray into, the BJP-led government is likely to refrain from any passenger fare hike, according to the Press Trust of India. You can watch the Rail Budget presentation Feb. 25 live in the DD News video feed below. International Business Times India will also run a live blog on the Railway Budget Thursday.
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of SussexGetty ImageMeghan Markle seems to have landed herself in some hot water yet again. The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to baby Archie on May 6. But it looks like the joys of motherhood will have to wait as Meghan Markle may have to deal increased scrutiny from the Queen’s officials. The move seems to have come as a result of Meghan apparently, upsetting the royal staff by going against protocol. The breach of protocol was when Meghan Markle released a statement about her estranged father, Thomas Markle, in the lead up to her Royal Wedding. Now, it is known that Meghan Markle has had to go through some family drama ever since she joined the Royal Family and the Markle Family certainly have not made things easy for the Duchess. However, the Palace had kept silent on the Markle Family front. But when Meghan took matters into her own hands and decided to address the issue, it went against Royal protocol. Communications and statements going out of the Royal Palace are vetted before they make it to the public, so the fact that anyone could have been “horrified” from the move seems a little far-fetched. Maybe the Palace needed an excuse to watch Meghan closely. Meghan Markle and Prince HarryGetty ImagesMeghan is already scrutinized by the media, why should things be any different at the Palace, she is a Duchess after all. Meghan Markle isn’t doing herself any favours by shutting out the press either. She is a Royal now, and a Royal needs allies, especially in the press. And in a bid to handle the press, the Royal couple has reportedly hired Sara Latham who is now Meghan and Harry’s new communications director, and is obliged to follow the orders of the Queen’s communications secretary, Donal McCabe.Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are taking care of baby Archie at Frogmore Cottage, away from the Palace.
Mobile phones are seen on display at an electronics market in Shanghai, China, June 24, 2015. The dragon country is world’s biggest smartphone market, with many homegrown players such as Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Gionee and Meizu.Reuters fileOver 400 Chinese expats working for Oppo and Vivo in India have returned home after a drop in smartphone sales as anti-Beijing sentiments are rising in the country’s large consumer markets. Vivo’s chief marketing officer Vivek Zhang also returned home this month, Economic Times reported.According to industry executives, the exits were a result of 30 percent year-on-year drop at both Oppo and Vivo. This led the Chinese parent companies to reorder the local management and hire new people to fight the anti-China wave in the consumer markets since the Doklam standoff.Northern regions in India like Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra have witnessed the buyer resistance. “The decision-making authority always remained with the expats, even in the districts where there were mostly junior-level staff. However, after the exit of so many Chinese employees, some autonomy has been given to Indian executives at the distributor level, with a mandate to revive sales,” an executive said.China vs China in IndiaThe trade war between India and China could give a blow to both the economies especially China as their economy largely depends on exporting goods to India. In fact, Chinese products dominate the Indian markets and economy to a large extent.According to reports, the smartphone war in India is now being fought among the Chinese players rather than between Indian and Chinese brands.Oppo and Vivo comprise 22 percent of the Indian smartphone market. At a time when the overall phone market in India surged by eight percent, Oppo and Vivo have reported about 30 percent plunge in sales. Their rival Xiaomi sold over five million units of Redmi Note 4 in July. Masked gunmen attacked a bus carrying Coptic Christians on a visit to a monastery south of the Egyptian capital on Friday, killing at least 28 people including children, officials said. The assailants in three pick-up trucks attacked the bus as it carried visitors to the Saint Samuel monastery in Minya province, more than 200 kilometres (120 miles) from Cairo, before fleeing, the interior ministry said.It was the latest attack on Copts after Islamic State (IS) group jihadists bombed three churches in December and April, killing dozens of Christians.Pictures of the bus aired by state television showed the vehicle riddled with machinegun fire and its windows shot out.Cellphone footage and pictures circulated on Egyptian media sites showed several victims who had apparently been shot dead scattered in the desert sand around the bus.State television quoted a health ministry official as saying a “large number” of the victims were children.“They used automatic weapons,” Minya governor Essam el-Bedawi told state television of the attackers.Bedawi said police were fanning out along the road where the attack took place and had set up checkpoints.State television reported that the attack killed 28 people, citing the health minister. The latest attack came after jihadists had threatened more strikes against the Copts, who make up about 10 percent of Egypt’s 90-million population. In a statement on its spokesman’s Facebook page, the Coptic Church called for “measures to be taken to prevent the dangers of those incidents that tarnish Egypt’s image”.Suicide bombers with the jihadist group struck a Cairo church on December 11, next to the seat of the Coptic pope, killing 29 people. On April 11, bombers attacked two churches north of Cairo on Palm Sunday, killing 45 people, in the deadliest strike in living memory against the Copts. The Copts’ Pope Tawadros II had been leading a service in one of the two churches attacked that day.The bombings prompted President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to declare a three-month state of emergency.‘Unacceptable to Muslims’ -The Egyptian affiliate of IS has also killed several Copts in North Sinai, forcing dozens of families to flee the province in January.Friday’s shooting came after a historic visit to Egypt by Roman Catholic Pope Francis to show solidarity with the country’s Christians. In his late April trip, Francis visited one of the bombed Coptic churches and condemned violence carried out in the name of God.Al-Azhar, Egypt’s top religious authority, condemned Friday’s shooting which took place on the eve of the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.“The Minya incident is unacceptable to Muslims and Christians and it targets Egypt’s stability,” Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayeb said in a statement.Israel, with whom Egypt signed a peace treaty in 1979, also condemned the attack.“Israel strongly condemns the severe terrorist attack in Egypt and sends the condolences of the Israeli people to President al-Sisi and the Egyptian people,” a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said.Copts have suffered sectarian attacks for years.A suicide bomber attacked a church in 2011, and there have been deadly clashes with Muslims, especially in the rural south, following disputes over church construction.Egypt says it has identified those behind the church bombings in April, saying they were part of an extremist cell based in southern provinces, offering a reward for their capture.Sisi has defended the performance of his security forces and accused jihadists of trying to divide Egyptian society by attacking vulnerable minorities.
